Digital Badging

Microcredentials and digital badges can be used to acknowledge a learner's mastery of small, granular pieces of knowledge, demonstrated achievements, or verified acquired skills. Digital badges are embedded with verified metadata, which makes them shareable across social media and the internet. Digital badging is available at no charge via Parchment Digital Badges (formerly Canvas Credentials/Badgr Pro) to all faculty, students, and staff on all IU campuses.

This introductory video will provide an overview of Parchment Digital Badges and step-by-step instructions on how to get started.

  • New Issuer Admin Onboarding for Parchment Digital Badges [Video] This video presents an in-depth, full look at every feature in the Parchment Digital Badges system. It is designed as an onboarding for new Issuers at Indiana University but can also be used to give more granular system info to those interested in beginning their digital badging journey. A short review of student/learner/badge earner navigation is also included, so staff may answer questions from students using the platform for the first time. 
  • Student Digital Badging Onboarding [Video] This short video tutorial gives students a tour of the Indiana University Parchment Digital Badges system. It covers how to view and organize earned badges within and outside of the university, and how to share them across the web and social media.
